Kalgoorlie & Wave Rock (Hyden)

Well we have seen the sights of Kalgoorlie! Brothels, 2Up games and the Super Pit (Gold Mine).  We had lots of fun here and the people are very welcoming.

Some stats for the Super Pit:
  • Produces 22 tons of gold per year
  • Each of the 40 large trucks are worth $4.4 million and were carrying about 220 tons each, load
  • Current dimensions of the Super Pit are 1.5km across and 3.7km long
  • In it's 26th year of operation
  • 40% of the workforce are women
Wave Rock was an awesome sight . We are getting used to life on the road , getting pretty quick at setting up and packing up camp!

Oldest brothel in Kalgoorlie, note the pink doors which are the starting stalls!

Waiting for the Sunday arvo 2UP to start

Nullabor

A snapshot of our 3 days driving across the Nullabor.  Sometimes in life you come across things that truly blow you away ....... the cliffs on the Nullabor were one for us. Long days driving but surprisingly the scenes changed frequently, we were quite happy to be back in civilisation again. We saw several people riding bicycles and running across ....... crazy!

Preparing dinner at Fowlers Bay, cooked along the way in our wonderful thermo shuttle cooker.

Fowlers Bay, seaweed and sandunes

The long road ahead!

Endless stretch of sparsely treed plains towards the end

Drinks on the Nullabor Golf Course, our camper was overlooking the green

Murphy's Haystacks & Ceduna

Murphys Haystacks near Streaky Bay S.A.

Oh my goodness the Aluminium Mind Control Beanie is embarrassing me again (memories of Stonehenge) and rock hugging! Steve loved the reflective energy.

Where's Wally Steve

We are now at Ceduna, very pretty spot right on a huge bay. Steve did a spot of fishing with no luck, but we did have a seal swim past us on the jetty!  Some lucky people where catching blue swimmer crabs, Yum! Our journey across the Nullabor starts tomorrow.................

Ceduna Jetty, check out the crystal clear water and sea grasses

Coffin Bay & Lincoln National Parks

Added two more photos

We finally made it to Coffin Bay, a bit late leaving on Sat but we made 2500 k in 5/6 days. We have been taking it pretty easy feasting up on local oysters and lunching at the local Yacht Club. We have had a couple of days driving through two beautiful national parks. Coffin Bay and Lincoln , the later Steve finally was able to take on the challenge of driving over  the sand dunes .We are on the move tomorrow hopefully to a free camp on the beach. We have decided to skip an area north of us because of the mice plagues at the moment!  Only a few more days and we will be off across the Nullabor.
